Getting a Divorce in Tennessee

Ending a marriage is rarely easy. For most people, in fact, it becomes one of the scariest, most emotionally difficult periods of their lives.

Having the right lawyer can change that.

As an attorney, I have helped many wives, husbands, fathers, and mothers to make their way through the process of divorce. And something those 13-plus years of experience have taught me is that whether you're not sure about getting a divorce or have already made up your mind - you almost certainly have many unanswered questions and anxiety about the future. Often people can not even imagine all of the decisions they have to make as part of a divorce.

Having spent over thirteen years helping people navigate the difficulties of divorce, I can provide the answers you need to make the best decisions for you, decisions that can help pave the way for a new and brighter chapter in your life. With that said, I encourage you to contact my offices to arrange a meeting.

Since 2005, Tennessee has required couples to attend mediation before a trial date can be set for a divorce. I have had great success helping my clients avoid the financial and emotional costs of a trial by taking full advantage of mediation. I am also a Rule 31 Family Mediator available to serve as a neutral third party in family mediations.

Each divorce is different.

In situations where the spouses are in agreement on the major issues the process may take as little as 60 days to complete. If there are disputes involving child custody, child support, alimony or property division - the process can last as long as one party wants to keep fighting.

In every case, I pay close attention to the details but stay focused on the bigger picture and the goals my clients want to achieve. I will help you stay focused on these things as well, a focus that is especially important to keep when charged emotions are present. Last, if litigation becomes necessary in your case, you can count on me to be well-researched, well-prepared, and fully ready to aggressively protect your interests in court.
